The best way to clean white sneakers is with an old toothbrush and some form of a cleanser. Murphy's Oil Soap, liquid laundry detergent, Comet, etc. are all good choices. Air dry. Most sneakers can be washed in the washing machine, but it will shorten their lifespan, and may cause some of the glue to come loose. If any stains remain after cleaning, they can be covered up with white shoe polish.
In addition to this I have also dusted the shoes with corn starch to help whiten them.
This also works great on white leather shoes to whiten the threading and nylon areas.
I certainly will try this. It sounds as if it will be just the right thing to do. I'll let you know how it works. Thanks! mg
I have found that spraying water on the sneakers first, then spray them with "Shout" laundry cleaner, scrub them them with a toothbrush or other plastic bristle brush, rinse them carefully (i even stuff rags inside them) and the next morning they are dry and look brand new.
