How can I remove dye stains from my clothing?

Color Bleeding Stain Removal

To remove stains caused from dyes leeching from one article of clothing to another, you can purchase a product that is designed specifically for this purpose. It is called Rit Dye Fabric Treatment - Powder Color Remover and is available everywhere that you can buy fabric dyes. Soak in the color remover, then launder as usual.

According to Rit Dye this color removal can only be used on white clothes. Any suggestions when the dye transfer is on colored clothes?

When laundering for the first time[an item that possibly could bleed], throw in a SHOUT COLOR CATCHER sheet. Anything that could bleed will go on the sheet and not your clothing.

Put one or two capfuls of vinegar (I use white) in your wash. It will bring the bleeding out of your clothes. I have used this method and it worked!

You can still use it but don't let it sit in the solution for very long. If you do it will bleach the clothing, it happened to me once. I usually put it in the solution, stir it around for a mintue and then look at it. If the stain is still there put it back in the solution and stir again. This works for me.

The Rit doesn't work on all fabrics. I used it on white jeans where pink dye had leached and it did not remove the pink from the jeans.

I hand washed, in cold water, for the first time, a poly fabric, having primary multi-colored stripes and all went well. I sprinkled the shirt to iron later in the day, and found that the bright green and royal blue and magenta stripes had faded onto the white background of the shirt. I, again, washed it, but the bleeded color didn't budge. Is there a remedy, please?

Very difficult, if not impossible to remove this type of stain. Keep article damp, do not allow to dry. Wash a number of times with an all-color bleach.
