How do I stop my clothes from feeling stiff after I wash them?

Soften Stiff Clothing

If your clothes feel stiff after washing, usually this means that too much detergent is left in the clothing. To prevent this from happening, try using less detergent, adding a commercial rinse agent or 1 cup of white vinegar to the first rinse, or add an extra rinse cycle.

I've never used vinegar for softening, but it does "Set In" color. I always wash new jeans, new reds or anything I think might fade; like labels that say "wash alone" or with "like" colors. I don't use detergent just vinegar, and after that most things don't fade.
