How do you get old wax off of Hardwood floors?

Wax on, wax off!

To get old wax off of a hardwood floor, one must first determine what kind of finish is on the hardwood floor. To do this, rub your finger across the floor.

Smudge or no smudge?

If there is no smudge, it is a sealed surface. If it does smudge, the floor has been sealed with a penetrating seal like an oil finish or a lacquer/varnish and then waxed.

There are plenty of floor wax removers on the market for either case. Go with the most gentle product you can find.

My wife and I found a product online called LamanatorPlus. It is an easy to use 2-step system that deep cleans, removes old waxes and puts a beautiful new shine and seal on your floors to protect them. We used it on our dining room oak floors and also on our new laminate(pergo) floor that we put in the den. Wow, this stuff is easy to use and a lot less expensive than sanding and refinishing...try it, you'll like it. Good Luck!
