Hard water can leave ugly spots on your pretty glassware. A dishwasher rinse aid should shine things up. Your dishwasher probably has a special receptacle for liquid rinse aid. Otherwise, get rinse aid that comes in a little basket. You attach this to an upper rack. If you're still getting spots, turn up the water temperature and be sure to use the heated drying cycle. Use a dishwasher detergent formulated to reduce spotting. Be sure not to spill detergent on your glassware. This can cause dark spots.
What happens if you do not own a dish washer???
How can you get the shine in your glasses.
thank you
For those who don't have a dishwasher you soak your glasses in vinegar and it will remove the water deposits.
Rinse your glasses in hot water with white vinegar added..Glass will sparkle.
Try washing your crystal in 1 cup white vinegar and 3 cups warm water. Rinse in warm water. For stains +/or discolorations soak 1 part salt and 8 parts white vinegar.
The stains on glass are composed of calcium carbonate, which is a base. They are vulnerable to acids like vinagar, the phosphoric acid in tub and tile cleaner and hydrocloric acid based pool treatments.(clorine) After soaking in one of the solutions, a fine grade steel wool will wipe the classes clean. Then just rinse.
Try soaking in white vinegar for a bit,(works for stainless steel flatware too be care full with vin. though it will eat through chrome so don't get it on your faucet or handles
I agree. I am the only dishwasher in this household!!!! So, what do I DO ???

MaryLou..I have discovered that "JOY" diswashing liquid makes my dishes shine, also I have some stained vintage cups(brown inside) and I added a little bleach(clorox)and let it sit for a few minutes and the stains completely disappeared.
Reidel says to put your glasses over a steaming pot for short time.
