You can remove red clay by first letting it dry thoroughly and brushing off as much as possible. Then you can rub the stain with Murphy's Oil Soap, leave for 15 minutes, and rinse with cold water. Or, instead of the Murphy's Oil Soap, you could use a solution of 1 tablespoon borax in a cup of water. If the spot persists, use an enzyme presoak, or soak the item in a gallon of water to which you've added a cup of ammonia (or use bleach if the items are white).
I was told, let dry totally make sure it is totally dry, as as possible, DO NOT to use wire brush, HOWEVER, use a bristle HAIR BRUSH, wire brush will tear the fabric. Then, wash in COLD NEVER HOT, yes even if the uniform is white. HOT WATER WILL SET A STAIN,even if you do not place in the dryer.

Do NOT mix bleach and ammonia together! It could be DEADLY!
I really can't remember the last time I got a red clay stain on myself, or even have seen red clay for that matter
I used rubbing alchol and Dawn dishwashing soap and a lot of elbow action on a scrubing board to remove clay stain. Use on washable whites only.
I race some at red dirt tracks. When not racing
my diabled son and I go to all races filled with
red dirt flying about. Nothing has proved to eliminate these stains. I will try this and let
you know the results. Thank you so much!
