How do I remove cigarette odor from my house?

Cigarette Smoke Odor Removal

Since the smell of smoke lingers in carpets, upholstery and curtains, you will need to tackle these areas to eliminate the smell of cigarette smoke. You will need to either wash these items, or if you would like a quicker fix, you can try a commercial odor remover. Once the odor is removed, you can try leaving a small container of vinegar in each room to keep it smelling fresh. If you have smokers in your house, you can keep several candles burning while they are smoking, and covering the bottom of ashtrays with baking soda also helps. Nothing replaces fresh air, so whenever possible, open up the windows.

Don't forget to wash walls and all things that hang on them. The smell stays on them too, if there are closets the clothes, towels, jackets will all need to be washed.

Excellent idea, with smokers in the house which I would rather them be outside, but vinegar does cut the ordor and help clear the air so to speak. Thanks for the tip

ALSO YOU CAN PLACE SMALL CONTAINERS OF AMONIA AROUND YOUR HOUSE. THE AMONIA WILL DRAW NOT ONLY THE SMOKE SMELLS BUT THE NICOTINE TO IT. USE AMONIA TO WIPE HARD SURFACES AS WELL.

Better yet, make the smokers go outside and stink up the yard instead of the house.

I found that dresser drawers had retained a lot of stale smoke smell. My solution was to place a dryer sheet in each drawer.

Good tips, but smoking is not permitted in the house. Ozone generators might work although there may be health concerns. If a house (or car)reeks of tobacco don't buy it!
