When we purchased tile for our new home,we were told to never use soap on tile as it leaves a residue which at some point attracts dirt and dust. We were told to use plain water on floor tile and professional tile/grout cleaning products for shower tile.Have followed that advice for past 5 years and have not had any problems.

I worked for a tile installer for 18 years, the one thing we always advised was never to use soap
because it can blotch the grout and discolor.
White distilled vinegar and water was the recommened use for cleaning.

Once wall tiles are clean use car polish to put a coating on them then the water runs off much more easily.
