How do I clean and remove mildew from my rubber nonslip bath mat?

Rubber Bath Mat Mold and Mildew Removal

If you'd rather not spend your bathroom cleaning time scrubbing mold and mildew from your bath mat, be sure to hang it after each use. If your bath mat has become a victim of mold and mildew, you have several recourses. You can wash it in the washing machine (cold or warm water please, and don't put it in the dryer!) or you can use Borax to clean and disinfect. Sprinkle it on and scrub it off. Keeping the mat as dry as possible between uses is the key to mold and mildew prevention.

Soaking mat in tub with chlorine doesn't do it. Still leaves mildew, even after scrubbing.

I have tried bleach etc...tile ex but the mold has grown into the mat in several places .... never saw that before! ( It is dangerous in my tub to put a dry matt down as it slides so much before the suction grabs the tub. )

And where exactly do you hang a dripping wet rubber bath mat to dry ? I don't have rods in my bath tub. Any other ideas anyone?

Use the stickers and stick it to the tiles above the bath.

Yes Patty and Marion both wonderful ideas! Bleach really does work, my girl's non slip mat was black with mould!~ upside down in the bath tub i poured bleach all over it, came back 5 min later and it was disapearing! so have walked away for another 5 :) And i always hang my mat up by sticking it onto the surface above the bath... if you dont want to do that, just stick it to the side of the bath! Try it Cathy :)

Use a hole punch to put a hole in the corner of the mat and hang it on a hook after each use. Hook can hang on shower screen.

I fold mine and put it in a plastic bucket with enough water to well cover then put in a 1/2 to 1 cup of bleach. If it floats you may need to turn it upside down or put something on it to hold it down. This works for the tiny holes on top of the mat that I am unable to reach with daily cleaning.
