How do I get tree sap off clothing?

Tree Sap Removal from Clothing

To get tree sap off clothing try Goof Off (or a product similar to that), or WD40. Spray the product on the stain, rub in, then launder as usual. For a homemade treatment, try using mayonnaise in a similar fashion.

This really does work. I used it on Gore-tex, but I don't know how well it will work on other fabric.

After using conventional stain removers on blue jeans, while the jeans were still sticky with sap and wet from the firstlaundry. I tried the mayonnaise as I couldn't find any WD-40. Then threw in the wash again. It was miracluous! Totally Clean!!!

To remove pine sap use eucalyptus oil.Great for taking grease off woollens as well - blot with paper towel until gone.

hand sanitizer works better because you have wash the clothing a few times to get the Goof off out. With hand sanitizer one wash is good.

Removal of tree sap is accomplished by rubbing with a cloth saturated in spirits of turpentine or mineral spirits from the paint department of the hardware store. Rub in washing detergent as usual. It is not certain that any stain is removed until the item is dry, therefore it is best to air dry initially to verify that the stain is in fact removed.

I used hand sanitizer and it worked like a charm. Just dab some on, rub it with your fingertip a bit, then launder as usual.
