The Heinz Solution for Copper PotsThere are plenty of cleaners on the market for cleaning up your copper cookwear- but if you want to save a few bucks, be kind to the environment and don't mind a little elbow grease, then head for the fridge and grab the ketchup! The acids in ketchup will eat tarnish up! Give your cookware a light coating and wait. (Depending on how tarnished we're talking here, you're looking at 5 minutes all the way up to 30 minutes.) Then rinse and dry! If you can't wait, add a little salt to the mixture and lightly go over the surface- as not to scratch- with a soft rag. Rinse and dry.Comments10/27/2006 12:30:08 PMDeb said: What also works is a 1/2 lemon dipped in sea salt. 10/28/2006 12:38:49 AM Fanny said: I have been Cleaning my copper Pota for years, it realy works.years ago the pots where cleaned with Venigar and salt 10/29/2006 12:37:42 PM Fanny said: It works I have been cleaning my pot bottom for years like that. It was so easy and works just great. I only left the ketchup on for 10 minutes but next time would go for 15 to really get a good shine.
