How do I brighten the colors on my clothes?

Color Brightener

If you add about 1/3 of a cup of white vinegar to your rinse cycle, you'll find that your clothes will come out brighter and softer. Any vinegar scent should vanish after the clothes have been dried.

I was told by repair man that vinegar damages working parts of washing machine. True?

Since you are not supposed to use fabric softener on towels, I use white vinegar in the rinse. That works great---they are very soft and still absorbent. It is a cheap alternative to regular fabric softener and there is no smell after drying.

Yes, it also is good to remove chemicals and detergent residue that is difficult to rinse out. I use this with tide or whatever I've got. It saves buying expensive "detergents for sensitive sking" that actually don't clean and don't remove the smells. Thanks for sharing, its a cost and time saver.
