Tip of the Week

Soften paint brushes that have dried hard by soaking in hot vinegar.

To wash latex paint from brushes, wash in warm soapy water, and rinse until water is clear. Run a comb or fork throughout the bristles. If youŽre going to use the brushes the next day, leave the soap in the brush, it holds the bristles together. Rinse the soap out just before use.

To clean your brush after painting with oil paint, swish your brush through a small amount of paint thinner or turpentine. Repeat until no color remains on the brush. On the last cleaning, use soapy water. Hang to dry.

For a more efficient way to clean paint brushes, put them in a plastic bag and pour in the brush cleaner. Close the bag and work the cleaner into the brush with your fingers. YouŽll also use less solvent this way.
